Originally known as the 302 or 302 Windsor (to separate it from the Boss / Cleveland style 302). It later became better known as the 5.0 when it became popular to state engine sizes in liters instead of cubic inches. Regardless of what you call it, the 302 offers great performance, in a small, lightweight package. It can be built into a very high performance engine with the right combination of parts.
When building up a 5.0 one of the most important parts to select is a quality forged 302 piston set. The right piston will provide the proper compression to work with the fuel you will be using, as well as giving significant improvements in performance, efficiency and durability. Ross Ford Windsor 5.0 / 302 Forged Pistons
Ross Ford 5.0 302 pistons include forced pin oilers and
double spirolox on all of their stocking pistons. Pistons are weight matched before packaging. You can buy stocking part number replacement pistons one at a time as needed. The
valve pockets are designed to handle most camshaft applications. The skirt design allows
the pistons to work properly under intense heat and tremendous side loads without scuffing
or splitting cylinder walls.All ROSS stocking pistons include high quality pins that can be used in full floating or press fit
rod applications.
