Mid Plate Mid Mount Engine Plates, Aluminum and Steel Mid Plates
A Mid motor plate, made of steel or aluminum, is useful for custom
cars, racing or engine swaps, and they make it easier to mount any engine into any
vehicle. A mid plate used with one of our front motor plates provides the
ultimate in flexibility when doing an engine swap or custom installation. Mid motor plates
are available in both 13 gauge mild steel and also 6061-T6 aluminum. These mounting plates
are very popular for all types of drag race vehicles, door cars, dragsters and roadsters.
These mid engine plates also permit an easy way to mount a different engine than what may
have come in the car or truck you are working on. You can even mount a different brand of
engine into your vehicle if you desire. These plates also work well for street rods,
custom cars and "Pro-Street" type vehicles.

Key Benefits
- A Mid Engine plate eases the installation and removal of vehicles
engine and, or, transmission.
- Mid Motor plates eliminate torque roll of engine and transmission within frame as
experienced with stock type mounts.
- Mid plates open up a wide number of choices of engine types that can be installed in
your vehicle.

A mid engine mounting plate installs between the back of the engine block and the
transmission bellhousing. The outer edges of the mid motor plate are then
attached to the frame rails, usually by being bolted to "L" tabs that are welded
onto the frame rails. The mild steel mid plate is thin enough that it does not
generally require any changes on the torque converter. The thicker aluminum mid mount
plates require that spacers or washers be used where the flexplate mounts to the converter
or the tabs on the converter can be made thicker by most converter manufacturers. If you
plan on using a mid plate, let your converter supplier know and they can make any changes
required. In some cases the center of the converter hub needs to be extended to insure
that it still centers in the back of the crankshaft properly. Any excess material on the
mid plate that you do not need can be trimmed off.
