High performance KB Chrysler 400 pistons offer a significant performance improvement for your engine, at a very affordable price. We have these piston sets available in a wide range of sizes including standard bore and many popular oversizes. If you are rebuilding a Chrysler, Plymouth, Mopar, Dodge 400 engine and are looking for improved performance, without the higher cost of forged pistons, KB performance pistons are an excellent alternative for many street, muscle car restoration, cruising and street / strip applications.

Chrysler 400 Engine Specs

For reference the original stock specifications were:

  • Engine block deck height 9.980 inches
  • Cylinder bore standard size 4.342 inches
  • Crankshaft stock stroke 3.380
  • Connecting rod length 6.358 inches
  • Wrist pin diameter 1.0940

We do not recommend hypereutectic pistons for use with superchargers, turbochargers, nitrous systems or for serious racing engines. For those applications we strongly recommend forged pistons. KB 400 Pistons for use in Mopar Plymouth Chrysler Dodge 400 Engines

  • Stroke These pistons are for use with a 3.380 inch stock stroke Mopar 400 crank, OEM or aftermarket
  • Connecting Rod Length 6.358 inch
  • Wrist Pin Size 1.0940 inch diameter
  • Ring grooves are 5/64 5/64 3/16
  • CH Compression Height This is the measurement from the centerline of the piston pin bore to the top flat part of the piston
  • Wt Piston weight in grams followed by wrist pin weight in grams
  • ccs displacement of dome, or dish, and valve reliefs, measured in ccs
  • CR Compression ratio estimates based on a .030 oversize, -.041 deck clearance and .020 compressed head gasket
  • Bore Size Finished cylinder bore size, in inches, that piston is designed for
  • NOTES Centered pin.

Mopar 400 Connecting Rods

While you are replacing your engine pistons it is a good time to also upgrade your rotating assembly by installing modern connecting rods. Why risk damage to your rebuilt performance engine by using old stock connecting rods that have been through who knows what kind of abuse.

With the high cost of machine shop service these days you can often upgrade to far stronger modern rods for not much more than the cost of reconditioning a set of stock rods.

Eagle Chrysler 400 Connecting Rods H Beam

Eagle 4340 Steel H beam rods are manufactured from a TWO-PIECE FORGING. The forging process forces the grain into the shape of a connecting rod, resulting in a superior fatigue life. The rod cap is forged separately so that the grain runs perpendicular to the load forces, which strengthens the rod.

Mopar 383 H Beam Connecting Rods

  • Installation instructions, torque specs and bolt lubricant included
  • ARP 8740 Capscrews are included, ARP 2000 bolt upgrade available at an additional cost
  • Silicon bronze bushings installed for use with floating wrist pins
  • Heat treated
  • Packaged in weight matched sets
  • Certified 4340 steel, vacuum degassed to remove impurities
  • Each forging is X-rayed, sonic tested and magnafluxed to insure quality
  • Shot peened to stress relieve the metal
  • Precision Alignment Sleeves positively locate the rod cap, maintaining big end bore size and eliminating cap walk.

850g Can be used as a high performance or racing replacement for the stock 400 rods. These rods are bushed for use with a floating piston pin.
