Performance engine crankshafts are available here, in many types, for a wide variety of engines. We offer forged crankshafts and cast steel cranks. Many types are available including 5140, 4130, 4340 cranks and billet crankshafts. We offer stock stroke crankshafts as well as stroker crankshafts and all out racing engine crankshaft models. While stroker crank models are becoming more and more popular, there are still many projects that require a stock stroke crank. We do our best to offer the widest range of hot rod cranks, in order to cover as many stock and custom engine build ups as possible. We also sell crankshaft kits with bearings.
The crankshaft in modern high performance and racing engines, is subject to far greater torque and horsepower levels than ever before, fortunately modern crankshafts are up to the task. Advances in metallurgy and machining techniques, have made superior automotive engine crankshafts available, at reasonable prices. Modern crankshafts for performance and racing engines, as well as muscle car, hot rod and street rod engines are most often made in two basic types, the cast steel crankshaft and the forged crankshaft. The most popular forged crankshafts are 4340 crankshafts, which are forged from top quality 4340 grade steel. Also available are billet steel, and some cast and nodular iron crankshafts for limited applications. We can help you with a stock stroke crank as well as long stroke forged stroker crankshafts.
If you choose the correct crank for your application, and install it properly, and maintain proper lubrication to it, while not subjecting your engine to detonation or excessive lean conditions, you will have the foundation for a strong, dependable rotating assembly that will last for many engine cycles, while giving trouble free service. You should always choose a performance or racing crankshaft that is rated for the amount of power and type of driving you intend on doing. You can always go with a stronger crankshaft than needed, for additional durability, but choosing a crank with less strength than required for your engine, is asking for trouble. On top of the fact that modern engines are making far more power than ever, with the use of stroker cranks, turbo chargers, super chargers and nitrous, pistons, connecting rods and racing crankshafts are being more highly stressed than ever. Fortunately, the parts are available to stand up the the demands of current high performance and racing engines.
