Well, Its Lindsey here, again with another update. This last weekend I spent in Wortham, Texas at the Freestone County Raceway. Let me tell you a little bit about it. The weather was unlike any I have ever experienced. It was over 100 degrees, pure humidity, muggy, wet, and unlike any year I have ever spent down at Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National. If any of you are familiar with how hot it gets down there in August, this was no comparison. It was SO HOT! It was crazy, in the riders meeting they talked about shortening motos potentially, and the Doc talked about IV’s available for riders that pass out or become sick, and it was crazy! I really didn’t understand until motos started, and people started dropping like flies, getting sick, and not being able to finish.

Our first moto was at 3pm. I swear, the later the day got, the hotter it got. First moto went really good, I got a great start, rode strong, got stronger has the laps progressed and felt like a million bucks. I finished in 14th, and could’ve kept riding! It was awesome. I went back to the rig to chill out and refuel before moto number 2. In between motos is where problems began. I became extremely tired, drained, unfocused- the heat was starting to get to me. I fell asleep in the middle of putting my gear on, and I felt the only think I could possibly think about was the back side of my eyelids! It was the weirdest, uncontrollable feeling ever- and I hope I never get it again!

Second moto was almost unbearable. I couldn’t focus, concentrate, breathe normally; I’ve never felt the way I did on the starting line that second moto. The gate dropped. I got a pretty good jump, but was pushed to the outside. I wanted to fight so badly! My brain was yelling “Go, Go, GO!” but my body wasn’t reacting to what my brain was telling it. I don’t remember much of what went on past that first turn; expect that I was riding horribly. The sun was affecting me and my riding, and I was not a happy camper about this situation; although there was nothing I could do about it. My mechanic ended up telling me later that I looked like crap the first half, but somehow turned it around to my advantage for the last half; but to me, the whole thing was a blur. I’m so happy to have finished, I know a lot of people didn’t finish the motos that afternoon. I really wanted to thank all the fans that toughed it out at Freestone on Saturday, I can’t imagine just standing there all day! You guys were awesome and true, avid motocross fans!

So, my weekend in Freestone is done. I ended up 14-22 for a 20th overall. What do I think about all this craziness that went on last weekend? I’m am upset with my performance second moto, without a doubt. But considering I had a lot of circumstances and situations that came upon me this past week, I am truly grateful to walk out of Texas healthy and in one piece. We now have a couple week breaks, and a lot of things will be going on- including me training and riding a lot! Alyssa and Bobby Fitch, who have been helping me out with a bike these last couple of rounds, should be expecting their first child on June 14! So I just wanted to give them another shout out, and I’m so happy for them and so appreciative for their willingness to help me out! Good things will be happening... always looking up!

Thanks for checking in, check back in a couple weeks with an update from Thunder Valley!
