CP Bullet Flat Top 390 428 429 460 Stroker Pistons Specs and Info:

  • Engine Block Ford / Mercury FE and 385 Series 429 and 460, as well as aftermarket race blocks based on these OEM spec blocks
  • Bore = Finished bore size piston set is designed to work in
  • Stroke = Crankshaft stroke piston is designed to work with
  • CID = Final cubic inch displacement of engine based on this bore and stroke
  • Rod = Rod length piston is designed to work with
  • CD = Compression Distance
  • Head Type Cylinder head types pistons are designed to work with, Cobra Jet includes Edelbrock and other aftermarket heads made with CJ style chambers, valve angles and locations
  • Disp = Displacement of the valve reliefs in ccs
  • Comp =  Compression as calculated with a 74cc head chamber volume, .015" deck height and 10.2cc displacement head gaskets for FE pistons and 75cc chamber, .010" deck and 10.2cc gaskets for 429 / 460 Cobra Jet models
  • Piston pins FE = .990 x 2.500, 429 / 460 = .990 x 2.750
  • VR =  Flat top with 2 valve reliefs
  • Piston ring grooves are FE = 1.5mm x 1.5mm x 3mm, 429 / 460 = 1/16 1/16 3/16
  • For Reference Stock Ford / Mercury OEM bore and stroke specs as follows: Ford FE series 390 = 4.050 x 3.781, FE 428 = 4.130 x 3.984, 385 Series 429 = 4.360 x 3.590, 385 Series 460 = 4.360 x 3.850
